TripCaddy ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from the identity provider.
Profile Information. You may optionally provide a display name, profile photo, and golf handicap index.
Trip & Round Data. We collect the information you enter into the App, including trip details, course selections, scores, team assignments, and group chat messages. This data is stored so that you and your trip members can access it.
Device Information. We may automatically collect device type, operating system version, and a unique device identifier for crash reporting and performance monitoring.
Usage Data. We collect anonymous analytics about how you interact with the App (e.g., screens visited, features used) to improve the experience. This data is not linked to your identity.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the App's features and functionality
- To authenticate your identity and manage your account
- To enable trip collaboration, scoring, and communication between trip members
- To send you transactional notifications (e.g., trip invitations, draft picks)
- To monitor and analyze usage trends, crashes, and performance
- To respond to your support requests or inquiries
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With other trip members. Your display name, profile photo, handicap, and scores are visible to members of trips you join. This is core to the App's functionality.
- Service providers. We use third-party services (Firebase by Google, analytics tools) to host data and monitor the App. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, or legal process.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), Firestore security rules that restrict access to authorized users, and secure authentication protocols.
While we take reasonable precautions, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and trip data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or operational purposes. Scores and trip data may be retained in anonymized form for aggregate statistics.
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & correction. You can view and update your profile information at any time within the App.
- Account deletion. You can request deletion of your account by contacting us at the email below. We will process your request within 30 days.
- Notifications. You can manage push notification preferences in your device settings.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
8. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services including:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, data storage, analytics, and crash reporting
- Apple Sign In / Google Sign In — identity verification
- Apple Maps — course location display
These services have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means. The "Effective date" at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
